Explore "How to make living in Affiliate Marketing from home" in simple words

Internet technology has given new dimension to affiliate marketing in very unique way thereby generating the digital economy in very effective way. Ultimate power of affiliate marketing has created benefit for several concerned parties in direct and indirect way.

There are two ways available for you to make money from home using affiliate marketing: by being the affiliate or being the merchant. There are many ways in which to use affiliate products, but these are the two ways in which you make money from them; by selling them or owning them.

Basically, affiliate marketing is a means of making money by selling somebody else’s product or service - when you are known as the affiliate. It is a useful income source for people that do not have a product of their own to offer, but want to use the power of internet marketing to make money. For a large number of people it is their only source of income. It is also a means of making money by using other people to sell your product. If you have a product or service to sell, you can increase your income by paying others a commission to sell the product for you. You are then known as the merchant. However, it is traditional to describe affiliate marketing from the perspective of the affiliate, so that is what we shall do here, though keep in mind that you can also have your product marketed this way if you have one.

The Mechanics: First the mechanics of how affiliate marketing works.
Affiliates are generally of two kinds:

1. Those that make their money only by selling affiliate products. They will have one or more websites centered round a specific product or product type, and will offer a range of different affiliate products from these sites. They could all be connected with same niche, in which case only one website is needed with a different landing page for each product, or on different niches in which case there will be a different site or subdomain for each niche.

2. Those that make their money in other ways, and sell affiliate products purely as an additional source of income on their website. In this case, there might be just one or two affiliate products available on a site, the predominant function of which is to make money from other products or services. In each case you register as an affiliate with the merchant or through Clickbank.

Clickbank is a site where electronically deliverable products such as eBooks are advertised, and offered for affiliate sale. You can register to sell any product and offer it on your website for which you receive an average of 50% of the sales price. Thus, if a product costs $48, you get $24 from Clickbank for each sale you make. In the same way, if you register directly with the merchant it is from the merchant that you receive the commission for each sale. If the product is non-renewable (such as electronically deliverable products that are not discrete articles) the average commission is the same 50%, but if it has to be replaced when sold then it could be as low as 2%. Once you have registered you are provided with an affiliate URL that leads those that clicks on it to the merchant’s sales page. You do not have to sell the product: the merchant does that, and also collects the payment, makes the delivery and deals with complaints. All you do is lead prospects to click on the affiliate URL and wait for the money. The affiliate URL contains a unique reference that identifies you as being the affiliate that sent the successful prospect to the sales page. The Website It is essential for you to have your own website if you want to succeed in affiliate marketing. Without that you will not be able to effectively promote the product.

Although you don’t sell it, you have to ‘pre-sell’ the product.
There are two major ways of doing this:

1. Recommend it: you write a page about the product, not trying to sell it, but saying how good it is at what it is intended to do. It is not quite a review, but more of a page extolling its virtues and saying what it does: how it can be used to solve problems for example, or how easy it is to read and understand. Write it as though you are using it yourself.

2. Review it. Many affiliates make a great deal of money by reviewing affiliate products. They will sign as an affiliate for a few similar products and review them. They will recommend one above the others, but even if the prospect goes for one of the others, they still make money because they are, in reality, selling all of them.

You have likely seen review sites online: that is affiliate marketing at work! You cannot do either of these without your own website.

There are many web hosts online, so find one that meets your budget. They cost from under $5 monthly upwards, but you can also subscribe to services that offer you the site plus all the software needed to run it (emails, autoresponders, page generation software, shopping cart, payment processors) for a reasonable monthly payment of under $30.

The Promotion: Finally, you can use search engine marketing to promote your product, but until your website is better known and listed by search engines, pay-per-click advertising is also popular. Here, you pay every time a prospect clicks on your advert, and many search engines offer a PPC program. You can also promote your website by means of article marketing, and by using social networking sites such as Google+ and Facebook.

There is no doubt that you can make money from home using affiliate marketing, but you must have a website, find a good product to sell and work hard at your promotion. Do all that and there is no reason why you should not succeed.
